Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS)

Clinical History:

A 20 year old, unmarried, female patient of Indian origin, with diagnosis of Relapsing Remitting  Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) was presented to Vaidyaratnam Dr. Raghavan Ramankutty in the year 2011. She was diagnosed with MS in the year 2009.

The patient experienced first neurological symptom in January 2009 with complain of

  • Numbness

It started as mild numbness in right lower leg followed by left leg. Subsequently she had numbness over the entire body in short span of 2 weeks.

Patient was hospitalized and prescribed Intravenous steroids for 10 days followed by tapering with oral steroids for 5 months. Her symptoms improved.

She had another acute attack in the year 2010. She had fresh complains of

  • Blurring of vision in right eye followed by left eye
  • Difficulty in walking

She again took Intravenous steroids for 10 days followed by tapering with oral steroids for 5 months

DAT (Dathathreya Ayurveda therapy) Intervention

The treatment started after pulse examination by Dr. Raghavan Ramankutty in the year 2011. She was prescribed oral herbal powders and kashayam (oral herbal decoction) for 9 months. She remained symptom free during this period.

Results and Discussion

Patient was admitted for extensive treatment at Ayurvedic center of Dr. Raghavan for 8 months. She was given Oil-dhara treatments with medicated oil along with herbal powder and liquid medicines.

Patient is totally symptom free and has had no acute attacks after starting Dr. Raghavan’s treatment. She had in-patient treatment for 4 years (3 month each) and is still taking treatment at home. Patient is very satisfied by the treatment given by Dr. Raghavan.
