About Covid-19

The 2019 novel Coronavirus disease was declared as global public health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 30th January 2020. The spiraling growth of persons infected and dying in such short time has made SARS-COV-2 infection the viral-bomb that mankind has never seen!

Among many reasons for the spread of SARS-COV-2 infection is the lack of effective treatment from modern medicine. But Ayurveda medicine can effectively control the pandemic.

The SARS-CoV-2 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, exhales, or even talks. These respiratory droplets laden with corona virus:

  • Infect a person standing nearby by entering their eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Settle down on objects or floor. If someone touches contaminated surface and then his/her eyes, nose or mouth, they can get infected.
  • Tiny respiratory droplets– known as aerosols – are propelled by air currents for several hours and several meters. It could infect a person who walk through the infected air space.

Each person infected by novel corona virus develops different symptoms. The joint World Health Organization-China mission has categorized symptoms as mild, moderate, severe and critical. Other categories are asymptomatic cases, and unaffected persons.

  • Unaffected persons – When exposed to the virus, there will be many persons who may produce antibodies to effectively resist the virus. There will also be persons who may not have the need to produce antibodies, as their immune system is strong enough to prevent entry of the virus.
  • Infected persons – When infected you can be
    • Asymptomatic COVID-19 – Infected but not showing any symptoms.
    • Pre-symptomatic COVID-19– Infected but develop symptoms much later.
    • Mild COVID-19: Persons who display symptoms like normal flu or cold like mild fever, mild throat pain, some aches and pains, dry cough, loss of sense of smell etc.
    • Moderate COVID-19: Persons whose symptoms have intensified. Fever rises above 100.40 , pain in throat intensifies, along with hoarse voice, persistent coughing, headaches, slight breathlessness during exertion, disturbance while eating and drinking, nausea or diarrhea, and tiredness.
    • Severe COVID-19: Persons with breathlessness and palpitations when slightly moving, or even while resting. Temperature will be high, along with severe pain in body, and poor appetite. You may have pneumonia. You will need respiratory support and constant care of health care professionals.
    • Critical COVID-19: Persons with severe pneumonia, or Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). You will surely need respiratory support and constant care of health care professionals.
