A 43 year old, married, male patient of Indian origin, with diagnosis of Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) was presented to Vaidyaratnam Dr. Raghavan Ramankutty in the august of year 2013. He was diagnosed with MS in the January 2013. The disease has progressed gradually.
Patient was presented with complaints of
- Partial loss of vision
It started as diminished vision in the left eye. Patient consulted ophthalmologist and got to know reduced vision is due to MS
- Weakness of right hand
Patient could not write properly due to weakness in right hand
- Complaints of Numbness and tingling
- Numbness of right side of face
- Numbness of tongue
- Double vision (both eyes)
- Loss of Balance
- Urinary urgency
- Slurring of speech
Patient had taken steroids for double vision and loss of balance, but none of the symptom was resolved. He also took interferon (Avonex Injection) after the diagnosis of MS, for 1 month and suffered severe side effects.
DAT (Dathathreya Ayurveda therapy) Intervention
The treatment started after pulse examination by Dr. Raghavan Ramankutty in August 2013. He was prescribed oral herbal powder medicines and liquid medicines.
Results and Discussion
Patient was admitted for extensive treatment at Ayurvedic center of Dr. Raghavan for 9 months (Aug 2013 to Apr 2014). He was given Shirovasti and Oil-dhara treatments with herbal oil. The symptom of double vision was resolved after specific eye massages by Dr. Raghavan. His symptoms have improved significantly.
Patient is still taking the treatment at home. He is leading a normal life. He can read, write and drive. The neurologist has declared him to be clinically stable after examination.
Patient claims that he can remember more things than before and is very satisfied with treatment given by Dr. Raghavan.
